The existing ERP system including the POS system (point of sale system) of a retail business
with about 30 stores and 100 workplaces nationwide should be replaced by a new one. The company
decided on the ERP product Microsoft Dynamics NAV™ plus LS Retail NAV™ the retail
extension with an integrated POS system. The ERP system Microsoft Dynamics NAV™ is very
well suited for medium-sized companies with industry-specific requirements, and the extension
LS Retail NAV™ is characterized by its continuity from the back office to the POS.
In addition it offers varied functionalities for the retailing sector that are covered in a
single application.
These includes for example the day-dependent sales and price management,
the members management, merchandise and replenishment functionalities and more.
Big Bang or Iterative Implementation?
When implementing new software basically two strategies are usual:
the so-called Big Bang implementation and the iterative implementation. Here we could exclude
the iterative implementation from the start, so that only the riskier Big Bang solution
was qualified. Thus the new software including all data had to be converted at a particular
time when the unavailability of the system was largely uncritical.
Because of the daily
shop opening times the weekend was chosen.
